What do sessions look like?

All sessions are virtual only! Otherwise, each therapy session is unique depending on what best suits each individual client and what they're working on! I am always open to hearing feedback to ensure that sessions feel productive and helpful to you. I tend to be on the more casual side, although I can definitely cater my approach depending on the needs of the client.

Intake sessions are typically 75 minutes and all subsequent sessions are approximately 50 minutes.

What states do you accept clients in?

I am currently licensed in the state of California and Michigan. Therefore, I am only accepting clients who are physically located in the state of California and Michigan. Soon, I will be accepting clients located in the state of Louisiana as well! Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions about this.

How frequently will I be seeing you?

To start, my recommendation is always weekly sessions. This is important in gathering all necessary bio psychosocial information, determining treatment goals and establishing a good relationship. From there, we can discuss dropping down the frequency of sessions.

What is the cost of therapy & do you have sliding scale spots available?

Initial sessions (75 minutes) are $250 and all subsequent sessions (50 minutes) are $200/session.

I understand that therapy can be a significant financial commitment, and I believe that mental health support should be accessible. Therefore, I offer a few sliding scale spots for those who need financial assistance. Unfortunately at this time, all of my sliding scale spots are filled.

What is the cancellation policy? If you cannot attend session, please make sure to cancel within 24 hours or you may be charged for the full session. I understand that life can be unpredictable and sometimes cancellations are out of your control, so if this is the case, feel free to reach out and discuss this with me further!

How long will I be in therapy?

Therapy is not a quick fix! Oftentimes, mental health concerns are complex and have developed over a long period. Addressing them effectively requires time and effort.

Therapy is also highly individualized and unique. There are a variety of factors that may impact the amount of time you spend in therapy. Because of this, I am not able to provide a general timeline for therapy services. Some clients find that they achieve their goals relatively quickly, while others benefit from a longer-term relationship, which allows them to explore deeper issues at their own pace. The time you spend in therapy depends on your individual needs, the goals you want to achieve, and how comfortable you feel progressing. We'll work together to regularly review your goals and progress, ensuring that therapy is meeting your needs. Ultimately, you have the autonomy to decide how long you wish to continue, based on what feels right for you!

I am interested in therapy, but worry you may not be the best fit. Do you have any other recommendations?

I completely understand! The relationship you have with your therapist is extremely important (and research suggests it's the most important factor in achieving progress in therapy). I know that I will not be the best fit for everyone, whether it be because of my style, my scope of practice, or my fee rates. If that is the case, I would encourage you to check out psychologytoday.com or therapyden.com. These search engines are great because they allows you to input therapy preferences to narrow your search.

If you want to use your insurance, it may be best to reach out to your insurance company directly to see which providers are in network.

There are wonderful therapists out there and I am hopeful that, with some research, you can find someone who will be a great fit for your needs.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance providers. Oftentimes, people have out-of-network benefits through their insurance, which allow them to be reimbursed for therapy services by their insurance.

In order to determine if you have out of network benefits, I recommend reaching out to your insurance and asking the following questions:

  1.  Does my plan include any “out-of-network” coverage for mental health serviecs?

  2.  What is my annual deductible for mental health benefits? How much of my deductible has been met?

  3.  What is my co-insurance? (this is the percentage amount that your insurance company will reimburse you for each visit (after your out-of-network deductible is met).

  4.  Is there a limit on the number of sessions your plan will cover per year?

  5. How do I submit claims for out-of-network therapy services?

If you determine you have out-of-network benefits, I would be happy to provide you with a monthly "superbill" (receipt), which you would then provide to your insurance. While you would still be responsible for paying for therapy services up front, your insurance will then be able to reimburse you on the back end.

You are on social media?

Yes I am! I post a mixture of educational and entertainment content, in addition to some behind the scenes of my day to day life. At the end of the day, I am a human being first and a therapist second. I love to show my human side in session as well as online. (Disclaimer: My TikTok should never take the place of actual therapy).

If we do work together, I kindly ask that you do not follow me on social media as it can make things complex.

If you have additional questions about this, feel free to ask!
